Getting creative with your shirts & ties

When it comes to accessorizing your shirt with the right tie, more often than not, guys are unsure of how to pair the right tie to their shirt. Haight & Ashbury always has an abundant supply and variety of shirts and ties that allow you to get creative.

Here is an example of the classic stripe shirt with diagonal striped tie. When matching a pattern tie to a patterned shirt, try keeping the tie darker than the shirt -- this is almost aways a fool-proof method.

You can keep a black-and-white monochromatic look interesting and modern through the use of patterns. The shirt is a mini-grid and the tie is polka dot. Goes great with a black or light grey suit.

Never tied incorporating a knit tie into your look? This collegiate look is achieved by pairing an oxford stripe with a darker simple striped knit tie. The knit tie adds a casual and textual element to the look and can be paired with dark jeans and sports jacket on casual Fridays.

This combination shows that the solid black tie is indispensable and easy way to elevate a casual look. The plaid shirt presents an interesting and sophisticated contrast to the tie; this can be paired well with dark rinse denim and a simple black sports jacket (or a jacket which is any color used in the plaid).

Whoever said that you couldn't pair a tie with a wildly printed shirt has never thought outside of the box. The key to to use a darker solid tie which is a color that is used in the print (so navy or maroon would work in this case). Since this is a bold print, a solid colored jacket would suffice.

Many would assume that this look is too busy, but it follows the same principle as our first example where the gingham shirt become the muted component and the tartan tie is the star of this show. Although this look isn't work everyone, it is certainly more adventurous.
