Haight & Ashbury's new Logo and Icon

The stretched Ariel font in a soft grey gives our logo a a sleek, minimal and contemporary look.

Our icon references the historical background of San Francisco's Haight & Ashbury which was the center of a revolution that promoted "peace" and love in the 60's. The formation of the peace symbol is created by our brand's initials "H" and "A".

Both the logo and the icon will be launched with the release of our Spring/Summer 2011 collection next year.

Getting creative with your shirts & ties

When it comes to accessorizing your shirt with the right tie, more often than not, guys are unsure of how to pair the right tie to their shirt. Haight & Ashbury always has an abundant supply and variety of shirts and ties that allow you to get creative.

Here is an example of the classic stripe shirt with diagonal striped tie. When matching a pattern tie to a patterned shirt, try keeping the tie darker than the shirt -- this is almost aways a fool-proof method.

You can keep a black-and-white monochromatic look interesting and modern through the use of patterns. The shirt is a mini-grid and the tie is polka dot. Goes great with a black or light grey suit.

Never tied incorporating a knit tie into your look? This collegiate look is achieved by pairing an oxford stripe with a darker simple striped knit tie. The knit tie adds a casual and textual element to the look and can be paired with dark jeans and sports jacket on casual Fridays.

This combination shows that the solid black tie is indispensable and easy way to elevate a casual look. The plaid shirt presents an interesting and sophisticated contrast to the tie; this can be paired well with dark rinse denim and a simple black sports jacket (or a jacket which is any color used in the plaid).

Whoever said that you couldn't pair a tie with a wildly printed shirt has never thought outside of the box. The key to to use a darker solid tie which is a color that is used in the print (so navy or maroon would work in this case). Since this is a bold print, a solid colored jacket would suffice.

Many would assume that this look is too busy, but it follows the same principle as our first example where the gingham shirt become the muted component and the tartan tie is the star of this show. Although this look isn't work everyone, it is certainly more adventurous.

First images from Spring 2010 collection

Here is a preview of some of the images we shot for Spring 2010 yesterday. The Model in this photo is Jason Howlett (http://www.jasonhowlett.com/) and the photography was produced by Gabe Toth Photograhy (http://www.gabetoth.com/).

Jason was selected from a short list of 30 male models in Toronto for this shoot for his classic rugged looks and free-spirited character. He nailed the image of what we wanted for Haight & Ashbury.

The Chelsea Shirt

The Chelsea shirt is a good 'classic' shirt with a slim silhouette for all the guys out there who stay in shape and wants something a bit more trim through the torso.

The collar is a cut-away style with a wider band to lengthen your neck when buttoned up and offers structure when worn open. What's great about pairing this shirt with a jacket is that is that the collar stay tucked under the lapels for a more polished look.

One of the signs of a well-tailored shirt are dart stitches on the back. Darts create a streamlined silhouette and creates the illusion of a slim torso while amplifying your lats.

Simple barrel cuffs with a single button give a classic finish to the shirt while the angled cut on the corner is a complimentary nod to the cut-away collar.

The Figo Shirt

The first shirt in our shirt program is called Figo which is slim cut with the option of button-down collar.
One of the design features of this shirt is an armhole panel which extends around to the back shoulder enhancing fit around the arms, shoulders and chest.

Dart stitching at the back of the shirt creates a slimming silhouette and helps from bunching underneath your jacket.

Button detail on sleeve placket as well as an additional hole between buttons to insert cuff-links

The Shirts

Okay... so I've only started working with Haight and Ashbury for a couple weeks, but I am honestly impressed by our shirts. I feel that it fits a certain niche that isn't being supplied at better menswear stores. I am realizing that these shirts are for the 28 yr old lawyer who isn't ready to shop at Brooks Brothers, takes care of his body, has sophisticated taste, but is also a $mart shopper.
Over the next few days, I am going to post each style of shirt we offer and what makes each one so special.
